Hi! We’re Carrie and Wesley.

After working in international business and communications for years, we founded Blue Bay and started working as a team.

We’ve both spent our careers in China watching large and small businesses struggle with communication problems—especially when crossing the language barrier. Carrie spent 12 years correcting mistranslations, rewriting unreadable marketing copy, and coaching content creators to empathize with their international audiences. Wesley spent 15 years ensuring factory products met specifications, connecting international buyers with Chinese suppliers, and mediating negotiations and disputes. We’ve both seen how a simple communication breakdown can shrink our clients’ revenues, lower product and service quality, and even threaten the future of their businesses. We’ve also seen how better listening, simpler communication, rock-solid priorities, and genuine goodwill can enable them to thrive in even the toughest markets.

As China-based entrepreneurs with international roots, our mission is to help our community—people doing business across China’s borders—to achieve success and add value through better communication.

Carrie Davies

Chief editor & Chinese-English communications specialist

Having spent over 10 years living in China and working as a freelance copywriter and translator, Carrie is an expert in bridging language and culture gaps with clear writing and accurate messaging. She's worked with a huge variety of founders and organizations to create communications assets that target audiences, nail their needs, and get results. Currently based in Yunnan, Carrie fuels her writing with eye-watering mountain views and endless cups of vintage pu'er tea.

Wesley Zhou

Business development specialist, Chinese-German interpreter

Educated in Germany and fluent in German and English, with training in quality control and business administration, Wesley has been helping international businesses work successfully with Chinese partners and suppliers for 15 years. Wesley’s behind-the-scenes experiences in different supply chains made him intimately aware of markets’ impacts on animals and the environment and inspired him to pursue “business for good”. A born extrovert, Wesley is happiest when he’s talking to people and solving their problems.
